The one that got away :(

Exams were in full swing a few days ago and I looked more like a cadaver than an actual person. To ease the pain of studying for six hours straight I decided to browse eBay for some cheap LRBS and maybe even get a worn denarius of Hadrian. To my shock and awe I saw this

My jaw hit the floor, I had always wanted a basilikon and now seemed like the right time to get one. I was in the lead until the last two seconds when I was outbid by three dollars :penguin::penguin::penguin::penguin::penguin::penguin:!
Needless to say I was a tad hot under the hood, but I guess you can't win them all.
A ton of alcohol after finals always helps ease the pain too :D
    C'est la vie!
If you can, please post some coins that you lost to a bidder.

I posted a few losses on other threads and have since deleted the photo(s) but I have already lost two or three right this moment since the bids have far exceeded my available maximum.....

Since the auctions are ongoing (three different ones), I'll just state that one is a Brutus denarius, another a Cool Republican and another a terrific 'Greek'. I think I need to condense my selection process a bit LOL

Too many to list but the one that still hurts was a stupendous CAMEL. It went to a CT member so I may get to see it from time to time.

I'm like @Pishpash. Too many misses, probably because I always bid low (ya think).

i wasn't even aware of this coin type MM ...thanks for putting in on "the list".

good luck with finals! kind of a strange time for them, do you not do just a spring and fall semester?

My last computer when I lost a coin I really wanted:

Seriously though that sucks to hear. Its been two years and I'm still bitter about a really nice Justinian decanummium from Rome I somehow forgot to bid on, especially since it went for like $30. And my deal to get a Witiges decanummium that fell through also leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Unfortunately I have a new "one that got away" to add. I just lost it a few minutes ago, having bid hard and much higher than intended, so at least I don't have regrets. With all the electrum flooding the market maybe another one will appear soon. There have been a couple of the miniature Winged Dolphin Men in the last few years, so maybe someday I'll get one.

Wee Winged Dolphin Man (since there's no way I could ever afford the stater version). The one that got away isn't as nice as the staters but it was pretty dang good for a 7 mm canvas! :(

Here's one I recently lost. It was posted on Vcoins one morning a few weeks ago and I saw it as I was heading out the door. The price was great and I decided I'd think about it on the way to work and if I still wanted it when I got there I'd buy it. 15 minutes later I'm getting out of my car at the office and it's been sold. Still pretty sore over that loss:

Tough luck, TIF. I saw that one in Obolos 6 and steered clear of it because I had a feeling you would be bidding on it. I got sniped at the last second on the lot I wanted the most. :banghead::inpain::rage:

Here's one I missed out on. I probably would have bid enough to win it but I wasn't aware of the auction until two weeks after it ended. I would have loved this coin and given it a happy home!
