Nothing for 1721. It's the first time in a while that I couldn't participate.

King James II of Britain fled to France in 1688. William III and Mary II were crowned in 1689 leaving James' son Prince James III out of the line of succession (as "elder pretender" to the crown).

James III was the legitimate heir to the English throne. Of course we now know that the Dutch King usurped the throne after defeating James II/ Battle of the Boyne. So he and son fled too France.

I guess the early 1720's are tough for me. This one is not dated but is attributed to roughly 1720. Gives me a reason to keep playing.

1719, Princess Clementina's Escape from Innsbruck, Eimer 484, MI ii444/49 by O. Hamerani.

Eimer 484 Princess Clementina escape 1719.jpg

George I of Britain was against the marriage of Princess Clementina of Poland to the exiled James III lest they reinvigorate the Stuart/Catholic line of succession. He arranged to have Clementina detained on her way to marry James. She escaped and a medal was struck by Jacobite interests to commemorate her exploits.
