Anyone here have any interest/expertise with clashes quarters? I do a lot of coin roll hunting and recently started pulling every clashed quarter I could find. They’re easy to spot by looking at the eagle’s left wing (right side). I plan to make myself a series run of clashed P/D quarters from 1965 on. I don’t expect them to be worth anything, just am having fun looking for clashes on both sides, or for a coin that has two clashes on the same side. If there’s any particular year/mint I should pay attention to, or you have some fun factoids about clashed quarters, please share!

I’ve got a few hundred more to sort out. I’ve noticed a few trends:

    • 1965-1967 are almost entirely Philly clashes.
    • 1968-1974 are almost entirely Denver clashes.
    • 1975-1980 I’ve not found but two clashed coins (so far).
    • 1981-1988 almost entirely Philly clashes.
    • 1989+ nothing found yet.

This 1972-D is the only clashed quarter that I have had the oppertunity to identify and label. This one is considered an Atypical Clash as the clash marks are on the reverse design and not on the field of the coin.
    Much luck in your endevors.

They only made Philly quarters in 65, 66 & 67.

    Haha, duh. Thank you.
@alurid your clash seems quite common. My experience so far says most Washington quarter clashing ends up on the devices instead of the fields.
@paddyman98 thanks for the links. Was my post clear that every coin in that photo is a clashed quarter? I’m realizing it might not have been. I’ve sorted out a few thousand clashed quarters to cherry pick the best ones from it.
