Just thought I'd share this one with everyone. Hard to capture the in hand look. This is a hard coin to photograph there is so much going on. Anyway let me know what you think. By the way picked this one up for $10
The disclaimer in my signature makes it clear that all posts are my opinions. In this case, I am very confident in my opinion. This is highly unusual toning for a Columbian, and the pattern is very strange. If you can show me others like it, I am willing to change my mind, but for now I say AT.
I've got a few very similar to OP's coin. I'll have to do a little searching in my archives. Heck, this coin is no where near some of the 'gasoline on water' toned coins that the third party graders have legitimized.
It looks AT to me. The images also make it look like it has an unnatural sheen so it could be from an old cleaning. In any event, I grade it AU details.
OK, I hit 2 instead of 1. You're telling me these colors can't happen naturally. Cause you've never seen a Columbus com. like this. Bow to you o numismaster. all hail physics-fan3.14
I like the toning on the observe. 10 bucks good for you. Green 18 do people really use gas on water to tone a coin?
He is telling you that the colors and progression look off to anyone who understands how toning on silver works. He is correct that it does not look to be original based on the images. If you didn't want honest opinions, then don't ask for them and then respond condescendingly when someone points out the obvious. If you were looking for a cheerleading squad instead, buy one of Carr's pieces and start a thread on it.
