A hoard of nearly 3,000 Roman coins was discovered in Koblenz, Germany, north of the ancient Roman Empire's border (Limes Germanicus) along the Rhine River. The coins date back to the third century AD, the most recent being from the reign of Victorinus of the Gallic Empire (AD 269-271).

The significance of this hoard beyond Rome’s borders is unclear.

I'd certainly collect Victorinus more if I could find one which looked like #4.

It was found near the town of Herschbach, a place that was outside the Roman Empire at the time.

    Interesting.
Leu just auctioned an antoninianus of Zenobia. I think she issued coins w/ her portrait around 271? It was nice bur a little corroded like the ants in your photo.

I wonder if any more of her will turn up?
