If you have a photo show it, but if not at least tell us about it.

For me it was a Sestertius of Caligula (RIC 51) that I bought in the late 80s and sold early in the 2000s. I do not have a photo but I remember it well.

I sold 150 coins in 1974 to Joel Malter for $500. I do not have photos but some of the foil pressings are still in good enough shape to recognize. This was my Caligula sestertius from that group.

Hate to be a party pooper/ I have never sold any "Ancient coins". I started with these, when I bought a inexpensive mint state AV Solidus /Justinian I from NFA Auction in 1988. I managed to secure a further AV 250 Ancients since then....all keepers. However, with my Worldwide AV coins (550+) I have sold some in past with Stack's/ then upgraded these with better quality specimens. When i was in my teens/ I did not have a "good eye" for qualityo_O The only collectibles that are being sold are all those 12000+ butterfly/moth specimens!

    chrsmat71 I LIKE TURTLES!

i avoid this by not selling my coins.

i have sold some low end stuff, traded a few, and given several away...absolutely nothing i've fretted over afterwards.

I didn't end up selling my ancients. I put three old English coins up on eBay and was disappointed by how stingy the bidding was. Everybody seems to want something for nothing.

So my ancient collection remains with me - waiting for my return, after I have some travel out of my system :)

I haven't sold many of my coins (other than my Parthian collection, which is sitting on consignment at the moment), but here's one that I kind of regret: a gold dinar of the Gupta kingdom in India.

In 2013 or so I started occasionally selling a few coins here and there, just to make some extra cash for more coins. I've also traded and given away. But I went into overdrive with the selling this past year and acquired a number of rare and interesting coins with the money I got:

    Justinian, AV solidus

Galla Placidia, AE nummus (traded like 6 coins for it, including my most regretted one, which is at the bottom)

    Theodoric, AR quarter-siliqua

    Jovinus, AR siliqua

    Athalaric, AE decanummium

    Maurice Tiberius, AV solidus

    Eugenius, AR siliqua

Flavius Victor (I was saving up for the Eugenius siliqua when I found this one and figured "eh, might as well" :D)

    Sisebut, AV tremissis

Of all the coins I've sold/traded/gifted, this Diocletian antoninianus is the one for which I have the most regret. It was one of my first "very nice" coins when I was still new to collecting. The seller had it listed on their site afterwards for a good amount more than what I originally paid, but I was still going to buy it back anyways when I had the cash but unfortunately it ended up being sold.

Just a few coin exchanges here.
Have never sold any of my romans.

Let us just say, one day my heirs are going to be very busy if they are not interested in ancients and want to sell.
