Can anyone shed some light on the Attribution on this 1836 CBH? The curl top 5 seems to be repunched as well the Lg C . The Rev. has a thin die crack that runs from the top right berry under the wing tip through UNITED then follows the contour of the EPU scroll comes up to under score OF ,then follows the left wing to its tip. recut stars # 2,7,8,12,&13
I'm having a bad night for concentration and have probably missed something, but will throw O-104a out there for contemplation. The 3 in the date doesn't seem quite right but that may be the image.
In-hand, can you see more overlap between the top ball and the center bar of the 3 than we see in the pics? That would help confirm one way or the other, but 104a has most of the recutting you mentioned including the 5, the correct T-I relationship and your description of the die crack sounds quite accurate (the crack defines 104a vs. 104).
I am have trouble seeing the die crack in your pic. Maybe the lighting is a little too bright of the reverse. The 3 in the date looks very similar. Here is an online reference : http://maibockaddict.com/1836-o-104-r3-capped-bust-half-dollar.shtml
