    Dang, that coin is awesome!

I've always wondered... why is gold noted as "AV" instead of the more chemically correct "Au"?

    Very Nice @panzerman!
I will admit that Emperor Valerian looks different on his gold coinage than on the silver or bronze issues. I wonder why?

For the same reason Roman coin legends abbreviate Augustus as AVG.

When I compare my 2 denarii of Valerian, they look like 2 different emperors.

@stevex6- I'm a sucker for desert patina like that.

Nice one. We can't all have gold, right? Let alone get some in exchange for dead bugs! LOL

Steve....We had a Colorado Low move in on Sunday, which gave us 21cm. (8 inches) Luckily the ground is still warm, so most melted, today there is about 5 cm. on ground, will get warm next two week.....so I can get back to finish Fall leaf pickup:)
Valerian sure ended in a bad way, Shapur had him mounted.....should have never made war on the Sassanians!
