Grabbed a small hoard of ancient Byzantine folles from a fellow CT’r…. Sitting and watching some TV after dinner and I am working some Renwax in them to add a little pizazz….. Now my wife knows nothing about my coins other than they are the reason she has safes in her bedroom is sitting across from me repeating….. I cannot believe I am watching you clean coins…… Cracked me up…..

Wait a minute you have wives that tolerate your coin addiction? I haven't experienced that quite yet.

I caught a good one. She has never cared what I buy. She has more money than I do but never really spends much. She does think that coin collectors are crazy. I can't argue with that.

Mine knows that I'm into it but she has never really said anything. I'm pretty sure deep down she thinks collecting "old money" is stupid. Why on earth would it be interesting or valuable? It's just money.

She's good with it but I'm not sure why. Might have something to do with me not noticing the piles of shoes she has. Just a guess.:D

I once made a comment something like "well, cleaning coins is like cleaning the house"...turns out it's nothing like that at all!!!!

And Randy, you're not addicted! Addiction is doing something that's wrong, but not being able to stop doing it. In your case, you don't know it's "wrong"! :D

Told my wife about this thread and she said that her comment is that: she loves my coin hobby and she thinks coins are beautiful.

She of course doesn't have any interest in them directly herself, but she can appreciate the history and she particularly likes the circulated coins.

I’m blessed as my wife doesn’t say a word about what coins I buy or how much I spend on them. All she’s says regarding my coins is that she’ll spend them at face value if I die. I know she wonton but then she won’t have a clue what they are worth. At least I keep records on the computer.

I have to admit I counted her shoes once...54 pairs, and that's only the ones she had under the bed. Afraid to look in the attic.
