While looking for a Carthaginian Gold Stater, I came across this coin: At first glance, I saw nothing that bothered me about the coin, but then I zoomed in and saw that there is something strange in the upper-left edge of this coin, so can somebody here please tell me what that strange little thing is?
To me it looks like the top of a miniature plastic screw anchor, but that can't be it, this is the only coin I have noticed something like that on, so I would like to know what it is.
im 100% no coin expert or even a lil bit knowledged as i just got into coins and im only 20 but to me looks similer to possibly a coral like thing, as this coin could have maybe been a shipwreck coin or spent long time in ocean water or something like that. just a thought as if u watch pawn stars they got a gold piece with coral on it and yours is so much smaller hard to say but its just a idea
Thank you for putting your theory forward, but I don't think that is it, if it was in a shipwreck or something similar, it would have been mentioned by either CNG, NGC or Gadoury, but there is no mention of it anywhere.
that makes since since even then itd be neat if it somehow was though value you would increase lol well good luck
If I had to guess just a bit of dirt, grime, lint, maybe a booger even. It is almost certainly nothing to be concerned about
I have decided that I am not going to bid on it, if somebody else wants to bid on it, you can do so here: https://www.biddr.com/auctions/gadoury/browse?a=4979&l=6049999
