I'm on the lookout for this too ==> http://www.coinraritiesonline.com/index.php?page=archive&task=det_item&item_id=2313 On of the few non-US coinage that I like.
Once you head down the road of cathedral medals, you are in a whole new world of artistry. I never went there, except for attending a couple of ANA Money Talks on them.
That's exactly what I did yesterday on a Heritage Auction. Very pleased! And there's almost enough money leftover for the 1943-S Walker I need to complete my MS65 20-coin short set.
I was real in for this series, as I really like the designs. When they reduced the size, and after seeing the winged liberty, I bailed. Sorry they are making gold centennials but not for me.
I second that emotion dwhiz...I've always loved the design of all 3 of these coins yet I too have been disappointed in the size. I am however happy to have made the purchases and will invest in the 3rd and final installment just to have the set. They may be smaller than I anticipated but they are beautious none-the-less.
OK, so who's in for tomorrow's opening sale? And what is your prediction for how long it will take to sell-out? I'm in for 2 of the 2016 gold halves and think a sellout will happen within 2 hours of opening.
Don't forget, you can still pick up a Standing Liberty while you're there getting the Walking Liberty. I'm up for getting 1 when I can. I'd be curious if they do sell out in 2 hours, or 2 days, or 2 weeks or more ... They are making 70,000 1/2oz Walking Libs for $865 versus the 100,000 1/4oz Standing Libs for $460
Yup I'm in for 1 also. All I can afford of this one. Hope it's not one of those immediate sell outs due to dealer collaboration (not that I find fault with dealers getting their hands on more than 3...can't do a whole lot of "Dealing" with 2 or 3 coins...?) Anyway I have the other 2 so I want to complete the set of 3. All 3 originate from beautiful designs, obviously the majority of collectors agree or these 3 wouldn't have been selected by those involved in the original selection process. Not to want them...well to each his own...and I choose to "own".
yeah, why does gold have to cost so much ?!?! I think the dealers pounded the 1/10oz Mercury. But I'm seeing some of those prices go down. I see many some at $240 now or a few even less than that. I'll wait another year and hopefully the price will drop even further after changing hands a bit more times. this price point is more close to the general public who doesn't actually track where the coins come from. But it looks like they stayed away from the Standing Liberty. With the Waling Liberty being even higher priced, I wonder what will happen.
Gee Clawcoins, if you're seeing the Mercury at $240.00 honestly I'd doubt it will go lower down the road, they ran $205.00 directly from the Mint...may I ask where you're seeing them at this price (or lower?) ...I'm truly interested, do you know if that's with OGP? These for inheritance in a sizable family (or special occasion gift giving) for that price w/b a steal IMO...will you please share the site?
You best be careful with such a post Fish or someone will one day be fishing you out of the drink!!!LOL Reminds me of a joke my Brother told me years ago Adam speaking to God: But Father, WHY did you make Her so Lovely...so she would be easy upon your gaze my Son... But Father WHY did you make Her legs soooo looong...I made yours longer my Son so you could always catch her... But Father WHY did you make her so Stupid...my Son...that is so she would love you! well checking eBay right now on SOLD items http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fro...lete=1&LH_Sold=1&rt=nc&_trksid=p2045573.m1684 slabbed PCGS SP70 ... $241.11 the lowest Sold price I've seen just checking now $250 raw coin with box/COA the lowest in a quick look, but they were going for $205+ original shipping in a couple Facebook coin places I venture into once in a while. You are assuming they will raise in value over a short time based on a continuous demand and steady or raising gold bullion prices. I'm curious if they are going to decrease in value over a short time. Also based upon the price of gold + numismatic. If the price gets right I'll buy one. I'm not *emotional* over owning one or not, which may factor into people perceived short and long term future valuations. If it doesn't go to a price I would buy one then I won't be at a loss to not have one in my collection. How many special gold (or silver) coins in the past have fallen to bullion prices or below release prices? I've bought a few such as 2008 Bald Eagle Commems. I've even surprisingly bought some Silver Commems below spot price.
Ordered one at 12:11 without a problem. Received confirmation from the Mint in seconds. For me, this was the by far the easiest purchase made over the Mint site of a popular issuance on the day of release.
I'm in for 1...They should be nice coins and will sell out soon enough, but no major flippers. 9:05 order USM04641xxx
