1909 S Lincoln

I am thinking of buying this 1909 S BUT I would like to know the grade and if you think it has been cleaned and what it is worth.

I believe it is a AU50 and has been cleaned, price $100.00 What do you think

looked cleaned to me. some what at leaset

I'd definitely say its been cleaned at some point. As for what its worth in its present state...I'll just say that I wouldnt give $100 for it. But thats just me. It depends how badly you want one really. You can get a really nice uncleaned VF 09-s for just a bit more than he wants for that cleaned AU (so he says) coin. No, I dont agee with the grade either. I wouldn't go any higher that an XF40 on that coin.

AU-50 I doubt it, but I feel it is XF45
Worth $100 Maybe. Cleaned or scratched certified XF-45 coins are going for ~120 at heritage. How dably do you dislike cleaned coins?

FYI: I got a cleaned AU 09-S about 1 year ago for $81. My local dealer agrees that it ws AU and was willing to give me $120 for it.

 

My honest opinion is to pass on this particular coin. Although it has nice details, the color is questionable, and when color is questionable on a coin, I wonder what else may have been doctored on it.

Yeah, I would pass on that coin too. Problem free 09-S Lincolns aren't too difficult to find.

I have a problem free 09-s in XF, they are easy to find albeit a bit more pricey than $100.

It might just be me, but is the mintmark a little too far to the right?

 

cleaned and I also question the placement of the mintmark. It should be located between the 9 and 0 slightly favoring the 0 side. Not to the right of the 0, but to the left.
