I haven't been able collect much lately, but what I have been collecting has been from ancient Spain. I'm not sure why. They are mostly pretty rough and usually pretty expensive. It's a challenge to find a nice one at a bargain price. This one, from Abdera, I got in trade along with some other Iberians for some slabbed US coins at a local coin show. Coins from Abdera Spain are not real easy to find. The city was first founded by Phoenicians on the southern coast and later came under Roman control. There is a Tiberius issue I would like to get with the temple rev. and tunas making up the columns. Anyone have an example? I would love to see it. Also any other Abderas. It's 24mm, 7.4g Obv. Tetrastyle temple Rev. Punic inscription 'BDRT between two tunas left ACIP 875, Burgos 8, Heiss 6
that's a cool temple/fish combo! when i first saw the tunas i thought it said 1999 between them. i think it actually does! looks like there is little enthroned guy in the temple as well..neat.
Hey, doucet => long time, no hear!! Congrats on the cool new OP-coin (as always, great eye appeal) I love the fish and fish-cleaning shack!!
