New to collecting and I need help!

I found this coin at work today. It is very close to the size of a quarter. Any ideas on where it is from or how much it is worth? Thanks!

really hard to tell from the picture.
characters almost look Japanese, but the rest of the coin doesn't.
Might even be a token.

Either way, if its not silver it's likely not worth very much at all.

Both sides are the same

 

both sides being the same it is more than likely a token of some kind. Most circulation coins have a different design on either side.

 

The text is definitely Japanese, but it doesn't resemble any official Japanese coins. I feel very sure that it is a token of some sort. Your best bet for further identification is to find someone who can read and translate the Japanese text.

 

OK, here we go. The text says paa raa queen according to my wife. Looks like some kind of Japanese gaming token

Yes, gaming token. I have seen them before. I have seen them both in white metal and brass, not sure if any significance of the color.
