I'm not a coin collector by any means but today I came across a very worn coin. I've done some research and im almost sure it's a 1916 or 1917 standing liberty quarter. I'm green as grass to coins and I'm thinking because of the heavy wear there is no way I can prove it's a 1916. as worn as it is i can see someone with it in thier pocket as a good luck charm.
There are die markers to tell whether it is the expensive 1916 or the inexpensive (in this grade) 1917. Post a pic please. Are the shield rivets strong or weak? Does Liberty's head protrude into the denticles? Does Liberty's gown touch the ground? (left side)
Well that's unfortunate...... is there any value besides the fact that I have a 100 year old coin? honestly I don't care it's the coolest coin I've ever seen.
Than the value doesn't matter because you're not going to sell it. Don't stress the value, focus on the talking points for such an old and worn coin. Imagine the story it could tell.
Yes indeed I'm very happy! I've never researched coins but I've researched all day! I finally found a few side by side pictures and it is kinda obvious once you know what to look for. it's been through so much world wars the depression if it could only talk!
