I have a soft spot for those old ANACS slabs. But I am seriously thinking of cracking this one and sending in to PCGS.
idk, if you regrade with PCGS you are risking a lower grade, it still may be come back a 64. It's nice enough, good pick up
I wouldn't. That slab is a really early generation, and is really cool. I would grade the coin 64+. PCGS may give it a 65, but with that hit on her skirt I really doubt it. There are enough ticks in the fields and minor scattered marks to really limit the grade, even though the luster is very attractive. Eye appeal is strong, but the strike is only average - which is again going to limit the grade. I know you had mentioned in another thread that you thought the mark on her skirt could be a pre-strike artifact. I'm not so sure of that, honestly. It could also be a minor strikethrough - but a strikethrough like this, in a prime focal area, is also going to have a tendency to be a distraction. I really think this is just an honest contact mark. And that's why I'm going to say this tops out at 64 (even if it is an attractive one).
