Today I got 2 - 1935G series CU 1$ Silver Certificates and a 1953c series RS 2$ note in XF/AU. Was bidding on a CU 1928 RS 5$ note but bidding went beyond what it was worth (Thanks @SteveInTampa for the information) so for less than 1/2 the cost of what the 5$ went for I picked up these 3. Not centered perfectly but I like Red Seals and Older SC's at a good price.

    Nice additions @Markus1959

I actually like the back vignette of the $2 LT more than the face.

Why does the serial number and seal look a little purple on the $1 SC ? Does it look like that in hand, or is it just the photograph ?

Yes - I like the back of those too - and the purple came about as of the lighting - both normal blue in hand!!

Had some fun over the last few weeks myself.. IMG_0001.JPG Haxby NY-2130-55
This note is a modified plate note from Merchants and Mechanics, St Anthony Falls, MN which Rockholt lists in the original MN reference as an R7 (1-5), and Hewitt A390-2 the more recent reference also lists as an R7 with a $400 price tag in 2006. I love cross-over notes...might be the closest one can come to owning a tough note on tough state so I was delighted to find it.

Emergency "money" from the Depression...I have become very interested in tokens, notes, notgeld that all served as currency during economic upheaval and the ingenious ways that people found as functional substitutes... given the world-wide trend to cashless, these historical items could be a harbinger of things come IMG_0002.JPG IMG_0003.JPG

And More: $5 Bank of Syracuse, Haxby NY-2655-S12 a spurious note that is list as SENC (surviving example not confirmed)...Haxby published in 1989, there is a note that was auctioned by Heritage in 2010, with a different serial number, so there at least a couple...glad to own this one IMG_0005.JPG IMG_0006.JPG

And another Minnesota crossover note ...altered from a R-7 Merchants Bank of Mankato City, MN to the listing shown...Waite has Freehold Bank as an R5...(11-25) known so I was pleased to find another connection with old-home Minnesota, with grading and authentication freehold banking $5 obv.jpg freehold banking $5 rev.jpg

I too like the old SCs and have an almost complete set of 35s including stars. I haven't gotten into the block number thing yet so one of each series is good for me. Lack one of the 28s but can't afford the stars in that series unless I totally quit collecting everything else, which I don't want to do.

One of these days I will be out of the city, and enjoy life as it should be. Dig the Barn and property.
