The above coin has legend at the right ADPIA so the coin is Hadrian. Many coins of Hadrian have the name of his 'father' Trajan before his own.
I included this in my group shot of my Baltimore haul, but it's a nice coin and it's relevant, and I have a new photo. This is a sestertius of Marcus Aurelius: The reverse type is Restitutori Italiae (Restitution of Italy). "Make Italy great again" in the current political parlance, I guess. The preservation on the reverse isn't so good, but the coin has a nice portrait and an even, smooth, chocolatey patina, so I still like it.
Picked up a Few Krugers, Few AGE's, Vente Pesos, Panda, Kangaroo, Sovereign... yellow is always good. Have a couple Vicky half-sovs and a couple Vicky sovs.
Wonderful posts everyone!! Best of luck to our President-elect !! Well, I'm late but I thought I'd throw in a denarius of Antoninus I just won with an initial bid and it was the reverse that made me pull the trigger: As far as I can tell, this is my first example of a sacrificial scene that actually includes the 'victim'.....and that 'ferret/weasel' is actually a small, red, female deer called a 'hind' (I had to google to discover what was meant by..."holding the forelegs of a hind")...LOL
I will post one the arrived the day after the election (after being tied up in US Customs for FOUR months):
Thats why he probably looks so sad after held hostage for four months. great reverse Michael, Thropy and prisoner ? This was made up just now
Andres2 => Trumpanus looks a bit like Alec Baldwin, eh? ... man, I sure wish that Alec Baldwin had been elected president!!
