I wish! I got annihilated by other bidders/ they have the $$$$. I should have gotten into the "Butter" business instead of lawn maintenance.

I attended the sale in Copenhagen - quite an enjoyable event! Pursued a bunch of lots was able to attain 2 crowns. Quite the selection to kick this off!

  4. Zohar! Good to see you my friend. How incredible that must have been. The ~300 coins that sold there took a lot of time to sell but the excitement of each lot was INCREDIBLE. I followed that sale religiously on that Saturday and have several lots that I bid on but the competition was stiff.... sadly no wins for me. I could have pushed the issue on one Speciedaler lot in particular but decided to bow out. The sale ending was a bitter sweet moment for me... I didn't win anything on one side but several coins I have purchased years ago sold substantially more than what I paid for them, which certainly felt great.

If it's not a secret, what crowns did you walk away with? I know you have exceptional taste so I have no doubt it's something superb (and likely something I bid on as well!!!) Would love to see those beauties!

Here are a few pieces form my collection that sold in the Bruun sale. The coin on the lower left is a single and all the others are double Speciedalers

@TheCrownCollector - what do you mean coins from your collection that sold on the Bruun sale? I assume you are referring to the types rather than the actual coins (which are yours, not Bruun).

These are the two I was able to purchase:

  7. Yes, sorry for the quick typing. I meant here are a few examples of my own collection that sold in the Bruun sale.

Firstly, huge congrats on the wins - they are both spectacular coins. I followed both and bid on the 1623 Speciedaler - but my bid was quickly surpassed; both of these lots had some pretty spirited bidding.

    Treasure and enjoy them!

I was luckily able to acquire a lovely coin from the collection, a 2 schillings lübisch from Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg. Minted as a trade coin for the baltic and popular in Russia for its resemblance to wire money. The MS example shot too high for my meager budget, so I landed this AU beauty.

These are often found heavily circulated. I also like the intense doubling of some of the letters of the reverse. Must have been a shaky day at the mint! This is catalogued in Krause as KM# 11.
