My friend found this quarter in change, and it has a different looking rim. The copper area of the coin seems to be indented into the rim. Does anyone know if this is a mint error, or just damage. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I can't say how or why it happened. Maybe some type of acid/chemical damage to the copper clad. It's PMD though.
Not the Copper Clad.. The CuproNickel Clad, the core is copper PMD stands for Post Mint Damage Quote - "Despite its high copper content, cupronickel is silver in colour" closed quote https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cupronickel https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quarter_(United_States_coin)
Thanks for the responses guys. I kind of expected it to be PMD since it wasn't like any mint error I have seen before, but of course I just wanted to double check with some more experienced collectors. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
