Funny, I just found a BU 71 Philly Lincoln as well. They're not common out here.

They're not common anywhere, I think. I have just one perfect one, in my A book. I believe I found that one in the 80's.

It's tough finding perfect cents. The really nice ones always seem to have that one fingerprint, blemish, a worn step, worn reverse letters, or a green spot.

I bought 3 rolls of new old stock BWRs from my bank two weeks ago. A customer had brought them in. They turned out to be almost 100% 1979-Ps. But, the coins had all been circulated once prior to rolling, so all of the coins had minor condition issues. I was so bummed!! I did keep 50 of the best ones. Nearly BU 1979 cents.

I was hoping there'd be some shiny wheats in those rolls, but nope. All 70s coins!

Are you guys all retired who search so much? I'm still at the daily grind and MAYBE can search 20 rolls a week. Today I have a day off so I'll hit some rolls pretty hard. I get rolls from work (through customers who pay us) but I also try to stop at a few local banks and grab a box every week. Soooo they are building up. It's exciting thinking what might be in there!

I work full time, I'm in my mid 20s.
I have cut back a bit but usually do 20-50 rolls per week now

I've found that the more you search, the faster you get. I can knock off about 2,000 coins in 2 hours with no problem most days.

Pennies.. errrr cents.. errrr whatever you wanna call em they've been kind to me today! 5 rolls thus far have produced 5 wheats, 2 of which are hole fillers! Still got a few more rolls, I'll save those for later. Here are my 2 new additions...

I'm in my early 40's and work full time. I do 5-6 boxes of halves a week. Just get stuff during my lunch hour and dump after work. Not a big time consuming thing.

Nice!!! I still need a 1936-D. Actually, I need EVERY D mint from 1935-1940 along with 1939 (believe it or not) and 1943-D to complete my 1934-1958 Short Set of Wheats.

I don't know what it is about those 1930s with MMs, I have found 4 pre 30s with a MM, but that's my first D or S coin of that entire decade!
It was a pleasant surprise too, it's been a while since I've found a hole filler (and the last one was a crusty 46D in a Dunkin Donuts tip cup). 2 in back to back rolls was just icing on the cake.

Well, they're all pretty low mintage in comparison to the Philly coins... Only the 1937-D and 1939-S managed to even break 50 million made, and neither by much.

True. I read somewhere that an estimated 99% of pre 1940 wheat cents have been taken out of circulation, and that article was written a good 5 years ago. Obviously such things will never be known for sure, but being how difficult they are to find I can certainly believe it.

Also, are those the only coins youre missing for that short set? Or are those just the Denver mint coins youre missing?

20161107_132445.jpg technically not roll searched, they were just handed to me by the bank teller. Still cool though.

I've got all of the S mints except 1935, I've got all of the P mints except 1939, and I've got all of the D mints except 1935-1940, and 1943. 9 missing. If I were a betting man, I'd put some heavy money on that 39 Philly being next one found.

I took a break from my average of 400 rolls a week. I'm not retired I'm just tired. Sometimes you need a break. I will be going back up to 300 rolls next week.

My eyes get tired after a half a box in one day. I have done 1.5 boxes on a Saturday, once, but that gave me a heck of a headache. Most times, I do 15 -30 rolls of Cents in a sitting. With a break, I can search more.

I can search 10 rolls of Cents in around 15 - 30 minutes. It really depends on the coins. If they're all lousy or common, I search faster. Nickels are faster and Quarters are faster yet. I can search a box of quarters in one sitting. I don't search halfs or dollars enough for statistics.

50+ hours a week at work. I do 2 boxes of halves a week, pick up and dump on Saturday. occasionally add a cent or nickel box in.

I usually just look for wheats in my cent boxes. It takes me roughly 20 minutes per box. The most I have done in one day was a day I purged and did two boxes of nickels and four boxes of cents. I ended up getting a headache and a pile of wheats. It was a fun day. Now I can't look through that many in one sitting due to neck pain.:(

My bank requires me to re-roll all coins, so I can't just rip em open and look for wheats. I have to carefully open each roll, substitute swaps, then re-roll. It takes time and patience!
