It doesn't even come close to looking like a 2. I believe it is just circulation damage.

It looked sharp, could be a filled die, and if so, I, would hold on to it!
I have rolls that I have put away written Oddities, still haven't looked at quite a few rolls from years ago.

Please explain how a break on the die could make the "N" look like this.

Clogged Die. The device being the N has been filled with debris and excess metal shavings, usually resorting to a BIE.
Just getting ready for a Broncos game. I could be seeing things,
    wouldn't be the first time.

With this one it's just damage.

I agree and believe this is the most likely scenario.

    OP,

With coins it's very easy to allow ourselves to see things that are not really there simply because we want to. Our minds, as part of the human condition, often trick us into this; think Jesus or Muhammad on the morning toast, Popeye in the sky, or Elvis hiding out, well, everywhere. Such things are not really there, just as many oddball anomalies on coins are not, and is why logical approach must be taken when trying to identify them. Unfortunately, more often than not the most obvious answer is also the correct one and is something to always keep in mind.

Looks a lot like a horizontal 2 to me.

Even though it definitely looks like 2, The field in between the devices of the N look flat, and, show no evidence of damage.

    Another reason for clogged die.

I'd get better photos and whole coin shots before sending in a coin that might be a waste. I'm sure you have other coins begging to be submitted if this is PMD

And, just where do you think it came from? Like Judge Judy says, "It doesn't make sense!"

Do you even see this supposed "2", or are they saying the "N" itself, due to the likely hit, is it?

Send it to...? If you're talking a TPG submission, most definitely not, but I believe it would be a mistake and waste of money to send to anyone.

Same here and the 2 is sideways, not anything the mint produced,
whether it be a filled die or pmd.
