Hello all, I am posting this in appreciation to all the wonderful replies I received after posting on the "COOLEST ANCIENT COIN GIVEAWAY CONTEST" thread posted by the extremely generous SALLENT. ( Please read that thread if you haven't yet. ) I wish to personally thank all that replied to my post about my Significant Other. Tears rolled while reading them. You made our day, to say the least. Some went above and beyond though, and deserve recognition. Steveareno, ( contest winner. ), Hoth2, and Chrsmat71. They each offered gifts which were humbly accepted by Debra, ( my S.O. ). I would like to clear up a couple of things, then Deb also will post her thoughts. First, we have been together for almost 20 years, not married. Second, while we aren't in good financial shape, I could afford to purchase an inexpensive ancient or two. ( especially after some suggestions from members here. ) I had to make that clear for my ( what's left ) pride. And now Debra.... Hi, I am Debra and just wanted to thank all of you that were so nice and wrote such nice words, and prayers. I asked John to try to win the contest for me after I seen what he was doing. He was being his normal self by writing his ( what he thinks is ) funny entries, but I asked him to put in an entry describing why I should win the contest. John reluctantly wrote about my health condition, and the fact that I loved the looks of that coin. John and I both like coins, ( I would say that John loves them ) I like the old ones, and the new ones. Some he says are just rounds, but I think they are pretty regardless. Our tastes vary. John wants to start getting into ancient coins, but the ones he likes are very different than the ones I do. You made me very happy with your selflessness, and kindness. I'll never forget that. Thank You so much ........ Debra ....... Hey, John, again, I would like to thank you all one More time for your kindness, especially when I am new to the forum, and ancient coins and give a big thanks also to Bob, who sold me my first ancient coin, I'll post pictures soon, (silver drachma, Viceroy Peithon 325 BC .there is a lot more, but I don't understand all the attributes yet, )and has offered to help me on my journey to understand and appreciate the history of ancient coins ( RRUS9999 ) @ EBAY. He is a very nice gentleman, who is having health issues of his own. Check out his store, he sells ancients, as well as artifacts that are ancient as well. Before I leave I want to thank all involved with that thread once more, and say how much that it means to us, we'll never forget your kindness. This forum is unbelievable, and the people are incredibly nice, helpful, and supportive. Love you guys. Oh, here is a picture of a very happy Debra, that is priceless to me. Thanks again. John.
Yeah this is a nice little place. Im glad I found this forum there are some very kind people here who I've learned a lot from in my short time collecting ancients. I hope all goes well for you and Debra in the future and you collect many more ancients!
Very nice of both of you to write what you did. Yep, this is a pretty nice place to escape to for whatever reason. We try to treat each other like family. You and Deb are now part of our family. Both of you take care of yourselves and, like I said before, know our prayers are with you.
Dang you, more tears. I really appreciate your kind words and support. You are good people. I am so glad that we have had the opportunity to connect. Thanks, and God bless you. John and Deb
Thanks for posting, both of you. There are some really nice people over here and I'm glad you've found this place!
Big hugs from France John and Debra. Friendship and love are the big part of treatment in medical issues... All the best Q
Kindest of thoughts to you John and Debra! All the best! And enjoy the posts and education that comes through these Threads! Kindest to you two, Brian
Wow, that's so sweet ... thanks for posting Big frozen-hugs from northern Manitoba ... good health is very under-rated (I'm so sorry and I wish both of you all the best) => yah, this ancient coin site is definitely an escape for me ... I'm glad that everybody here is so awesome (it really is a great place to learn about coins, but more importantly, just a place to have some fun with the hobby)
Thanks for posting your story, John and Debra. Be assured that thoughts and prayers are going up for you both from Ontario. This is a great family to be a part of. Thank you for becoming our newest brother and sister! Welcome to the happy Ancient CT family! God Bless you, John and Debra. Erin
Did you see any that were guaranteed authenticate, that are not ? I did see some items that were marked reproduction, is that what you are referring to ? I have had many conversations with him, and I don't think that he is the type of person to scam ( knowingly ) But I couldn't tell the difference anyway. Thanks. John.
Well, a guarantee doesnt mean much when the item is fake. I have no idea if he knows they are not real or not. Some of his arrowhead fakes are common Chinese production.
You didn't really answer my question. I am not sure which ones you are talking about. If there are any that are fake, that he has not stated reproduction, or listed as " guaranteed authentic or with coa " please elaborate. Could you take the time to give me item#s . I definitely don't want to endorse someone's offerings, or purchase from, if not completely authentic. I would question him on these 'fakes" if indeed that is the case, but wouldn't want to accuse him of selling fake items, unless absolutely sure that they are. Are there anymore experts out there willing to look into this to confirm, before I question him ? It is of course possible that he doesn't know that they are fake if that is indeed the case. There are cases of TPGS that didn't see that the coin was fake. I only was looking at his ancient coins. Accusing someone of knowingly selling fake products is a very serious attack on someone's character where I come from. If indeed it is confirmed I would expect him to take immediate action, to either remove them, or label them as replicas. Thanks. John.
These are certainly fake: http://www.ebay.com/itm/ANCIENT-FIE...791846?hash=item2a6ff287a6:g:TdAAAOSw-kdXywiN http://www.ebay.com/itm/ANCIENT-ARR...372083?hash=item2a6eca3533:g:ThgAAOSwgZ1XtOwb http://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-ANCIEN...903560?hash=item2a744e2048:g:PcsAAOSwhcJWL~XK http://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-ANCIEN...766935?hash=item2820ba3897:g:6o0AAOSwLnBX4AvX http://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-ANCIEN...972556?hash=item281db3290c:g:floAAOSwaB5XmPXA http://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-ANCIEN...000009?hash=item2823c7f9c9:g:wJwAAOSw~OVW005K Others appear genuine, but not ancient but modern antique. Others (fibulae) may be genuine but pins are likely modern. Others the photos are bad and I would have to see them.
THANK you Ken, for taking the time to show me them. They are listed as having coa, which I know can also be faked. I just don't think he is the type to knowingly sell fake prod. Now, I have to find a way to alert, or question him of these, without insulting him. Thanks again. John..
