Upgraded my she wolf at bay, it arrived today, I need your opinions please. It is 15mm and 3g, I have tried to find a WRL on the internet without success.
Nice => I love the cool ol' wolf/hound reverse (reminds me of Larry) Sadly, I don't yet have one of these babies (*sigh*)
I like it. Nice tone and detail. Excellent picture as well. I was trying to get a feeling for its size - I guess it is pretty small?
Nice one, Pishpash! You say, WRL? Meaning? Are you looking for an attribution? If so, it's RIC 691; Cohen 338. The wolf walking right is not listed by Sear, who only gives a listing for the walking left version.
I don't have any quadrantes from Trajan. My latest one is this one of Claudius: Rome mint, AD 41 3.95 gm; 15.1 mm Obv: TI CLAVDIVS CAESAR AVG, modius. Rev: PON M TR P IMP COS DES IT around large SC BMCRE 179; RIC 84; Cohen 70; Sear 1863
I was not aware WRL made the type and see nothing about this one that makes me wonder other than your question. They come right and left.
WRL stands for Westair Reproductions Ltd, they make gift coins for sale at museum gift shops. Sometimes the WRL can be erased and the coin is sold as genuine. I just wondered if it looked too good to be true. I also have a left facing wolf.
Cool posts everyone!! Quadrants are another area/denomination I need to get into.... especially with those devices.
oh yeah, i forgot about those guys...they stamp the coin with "WRL"... very attractive quadrans pish....looks great.
