OK - 1734. I have several GB coins but far and away the best is this Crown:

@robinjojo Really like the 8 reales klippe. The klippes and cut coins are always interesting. Didn't know Mexico had klippe coins. Thanks for sharing

Thanks! The "klippe" coins from Mexico are really odd, and minted for only two years: 1733, 1734. The dies used were intended for milled coins, but other dies were designed for them, premiering in 1732. That date is extremely rare.

Getting back to the klippe type 8 reales, the flans were always square shaped. Given the uniformity of the strike, they were clearly struck on a press and not hammer struck. Of the two dates 1734 is by far the rarer. I've never owned a coin with that date. These coins are in high demand, and a good number have been holed.

If you are considering purchasing one of these coins, be careful. They are heavily counterfeited. It is best to buy from a trusted source, even if there's a premium included.

I don't have much for 1733 - a rather grotty GB halfpenny and this rather better farthing:

Another step backwards to 1732. My chances to contribute are getting fewer and fewer.
