I was digging through some stuff today and found this. I remember buying it years ago for the Franklin Half. A nice BU coin as the pics will show.
I''m just not sure what it exactly is so here are some pics.

I know when I bought these I was considering removing the Franklin as it is a nice coin but the more I thought about it the more I wonedered what it was.

Can anyone help me with this. Wondering if it's worth anything (besides the half) as well. I have two more with different themes and 1963 halves.

What can I say I have bought a lot of stuff over the years and it gets misplaced. Found some other cool stuff today as well.

    Thank for any help.

You had me at first, I knew that the first 'first day of issue' that was know was for the JFK half dollar (only one known).

The value here would be for the first day cover for the stamps. (probably not much).

If you want the silver value, I'd pull the coin.

I wouldn't seperate the piece, unless any of the material would start any reaction with the coin.
There might not be a premium for it now, but you never know.
Maybe a mailman somewhere would like that piece, considering the Boston Post Road began as a path to deliver postal goods using post riders.
If you have the room to continue to store it in it's current state, I'd keep it that way.
Or, if you have a friend that is a mailman or really like yours, give it as a gift.
    :)

    Treashunt and rototbeast,

Thanks for the input guys. I'll keep it as it is for now as it is pretty cool and a nice coin. When I bought it I paid for the coin "not the holder".

ON THE OTHER HAND I thinks it's REALLY, REALLY RARE.
THE ONLY ONE I'VE EVER SEEN!

Starting bid of $62,000 and that's a bargain!

    Sorry, got carried away.

Would you have to report me Treashunt?

    You pretty much nailed it.
I refer to my coins as my "401clembo" but I don't see myself as an investor.
My wife and I have no children and eventually I will sell my coins. I can only hope they will end up with people like me that appreciate the coin, the art and the history behind them.

Nah, I only report the medicine and porn posters.
    But, don't forget the buy-it-now of a mere $100,000!!!!!!

This is why I like this forum so much ~ collectors and contributors who understand the merging of coins & history and that is about more than just the money or profit. Great item, Clembo .. you've got me searching the web trying to find it too and I'm reading all about the Boston Post Road. BTW ~ nice Franklin too... FBL :) ... that should bring it up to the 100k value immediately!

wow clembo!!! I don't know if I'd seperate them either, but MAN! what a nice FBL Franklin! If it was a 49-S, I would have to do it, but I don't know how valuable the 48-D is as a coin.

I think you're probably like me and appreciate something more when we see it as it was intended. I have a 1954 proof set that I keep in the cellophane and box (after removing the staple) mostly because I want to show people what a proof set came in back in the early 50's.
