Bored so doing a guess the grade on this seated quarter I've had for years but just recently got back from PCGS. It is the repunched date.
When I first bought this my gut said it was xf 40, but I never sent it in because i was afraid it was going to come back vf 35 and it just wouldn't have been worth it. But after several years I finally sent it in and it did come back as a xf 40.
I usually let my GTG's last a day, but I wont be near my computer the next few days and I didn't want to wait five or so days.
A very nice seated specimen that for sure is an xf-40. Adding the rpd makes it more appealing nice find!
Thank you. The repunched date was a surprise when I got home and I'm just a sucker for 1840's seated stuff, especially quarters. I'm just happy it came back the xf, I personally thought it was a 50/50 on it being xf or vf.
I'm a big fan of seated coinage myself especially the half dimes. But the quarters and half's are usually a tad bit higher than my budget . The 1840 seems to hold quite a few rpd and mpd's.
