This coin collecting thing is just a hobby, do what pleases you and don't worry about what others think. Crack them coins out, go for it.
I was just thinking the same thing. Promoting the hobby is great but I'm keeping that I'm an avid collector under my hat to anyone but very, very close and trusted friends or family members.
I bring stuff home or carry it around in my pocket sometimes for show and tell. The bank vault is less than 100 yards from my door. I keep very very little at home which is a very secure place in a secure neighborhood, and secure town where everybody knows everybody and who they are kin to. Lots of good people who keep an eye on your place because they know you will do the same for them.
Oh, then never mind. You obviously have a handle on it. I wish I could say the same for my neighborhood. It's not Mayberry R.F.D. here. I have the hood 100 yards from my front door!
Crack them out for sure. I collect for fun, not to sell so value means nothing to me. I have been buying mint and proof sets for years for the soul purpose of filling my danscos. I have one for every modern denomination. I started buying sets from 1965 to present. 64 and before are mostly circulated silver with a few uncs mixed in. I love the look of the filled pages, so much better than in the mint plastic. Plus it is a cheap way to collect. Most sets are inexpensive, so i can spend $10-15 on a couple sets and fill a bunch of holes. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
I have a set of Kennedy halves 1964-2012 that is complete with proofs in a Dansco. They are spectacular!
Another option is to get blank Dansco pages and use them instead of the pages with the dates and mint marks printed on them.
dwhiz: I like the use of the labels underneath each coin. I am making a graduation gift for my grandson to consist of 10 Morgans, 10 Peace and 4 Silver Eagles. The Eagles will be for 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016. Each one represents each school year by date. I have acid-free archival tape for my Brother label printer.
I have a hard time breaking out coins from mint and proof sets. In lieu of the stress, I would usually purchase the silver proofs on e-bay. I found that I could buy a decade's worth for a pretty reasonable price. That's how I filled out my cent, nickel, dime, and quarter proof and silver proofs for the past few decades.
