Searching Gold dollar coins?

    Hi all :)

I've been searching bank roll a lot lately. The branches are now calling me to pick up their "funny money" ($2 bills, small & large dollars and Kennedys). It seems they need $1000 increments of coin face to return it through Loomis/Wells/Dunbar.

Actually, the tellers that are calling me are THRILLED to get rid of the stale coin in their vaults but if I roll it to return it to my local branch, it will just sit in theirs. So I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. Anyone have guidance here???

Unfortunately, my regular bank won't let me use their counter--as my account has dropped under the 15K minimum needed to use it fee-free (spent a lot recently on a new patent I hold). So I'm putting gold dollar searching on hold.

Has anyone really found much worthwhile on dollars? I found a wide-rim 1979 and some BUNC's of Presidentials for my folder and 6 Proof Sac's--but that's about it.Thanks!

We have a credit union in our area that allows account holders to use their coin counter for free if you have an account with a minimum balance of $100. We are allowed to deposit up to $100 daily at each branch, and there are 6 branches in our county.

Perhaps you have a credit union in your area with a similar policy.

I use Coinstar. At least in my area, Coinstar gives 100% of coins if you put it into Amazon, Southwest Airlines, Chili's, or a few other places. I dump my coins there. Except Eisenhower Dollars and Susan B Anthony Dollars, they don't take those anymore.

My credit union takes everything, even if the machines don't. Which is why I have an uncountable number of Ikes.

If your just dumping already searched rewraped rolls, this may sound anal. If your bank won't take them convinient stores will, pay for your gas. I actually see others do it quite often.
I usually trade roll for roll cwr at stores or banks. But I don't search many rolls so they don't mind.

I'm afraid I'm not in a position to roll search as the banks are always closed when I get off work.

What did you patent? Unless, of course, it's a case of "if I told you, I'd have to kill you.":woot:

You may want to see if there's a credit union nearby. Many of them have machines you can use. My local one only requires a $1 deposit.

I've only found one wide rim and a proof Tyler gold dollar. My pick up branch had $1600.00 in the but couldn't return until they got $2000.00. I took them off their hands and put them through my credit union's coin machine. Scratched their back, they scratch mine.

Golden dollar! You'd be amazed how many people think they are real gold because someone is careless with their choice of words.

My local credit unions all require $5, small price to pay for excellent customer service and friendly tellers that find and save stuff for me.

I end up paying for meals and other purchases with coins. Yes, they hate it when you dump out $30 in halves, but whattya gonna do

I can't. I meant you or somebody who can play these. But a tune like this is made to order for your patent, that's why I picked it. Note the clever pun, there, lol.
