What software if any do you use and or recommend for inventorying a coin collection software or are you all old school and use notebooks? I'm currently Old School. Just Notebooks for now. Thanks for viewing and commenting in advance.
Being a world coins guy, I catalogue everything on Numista. Also, for certified coins I use the grading companies registry/collection manager. I used to have a little index card box with alphabetical dividers and would write out information on cards and file them away.
I have been using a program called Coin Elite for many years. It's not cheap but it will do almost anything. It's really handy with a large collection. Many just use Excel but it's going to take a while to build a sheet even close to Coin Elite. You can download a demo here. https://www.trovesoftware.com/coinelite.html
Excel meets my needs as my collection is not that large. I can see the need for a sophisticated program such as Coin Elite for a large collection.
I created a previous post about Open Numismat: https://www.cointalk.com/threads/ha...1-9-5-for-cataloging-their-collection.408663/ It's free and customizable, give it a try.
CoinManage by Liberty Street Software. Love it, does everything I need it to, up-to-date values even if you don't update to the new version each year. You can upload up to 4 photos per coin. https://www.libertystreet.com/Coin-Collecting-Software.htm Super handy reporting too (here's an example of an entry):
