This was in the central VA hills. It's gone up maybe 25-30 cents since then, and I've run out of fuel points.
I'm doing bulk searching. Between coin/bills--often 4-5K at a time. Haven't found anything worth over $60, but I'm making up "Specimen" rolls (anything interesting that really not fit for a holder-yet still interesting) and interesting bills, so at least I'm saving a lot
has this blog turned into calculating gas cost or the fact of enjoying what you do...hey life has a cost...do we stop living because of the cost of living...This is a hobby and every hobby has its costs and enjoyment...I think some people are missing the objective of this hobby...we all spent lots of money on things we don't enjoy...
Exactly! Not to mention lots of people spend money and time on things that may kill them... cigarettes, alcohol, etc... I love the thrill of the find... the interaction with fellow true coin roll hunters - you can't replace that! It's not about the money for most of us.
The original intent of me starting this thread was to have an accurate account on how much I spent on silver this year using an excel spreadsheet. I buy and sell silver and I wanted to figure out the costs of my CRH silver. I agree with you, I love the hunt! It is fun and if I don't make as much on paper it is still worth it and I am still making money regardless. I got my girlfriend into it a month ago and she loves it just as much as I do. So hunt, hunt and hunt some more!
