    General Sherman is a giant sequoia tree located in the Giant Forest of Sequoia National Park in Tulare County, in the U.S. state of California. By volume, it is the largest known living single stem tree on Earth.

    Anyone know how old this is? We might have the remains of buildings going back thousands of years, we don't have anything like this.

    To put it in ancient coin enthusiasts' terms, the General Sherman sequoia was a seedling during the reign of Augustus or Tiberius, approximately :)

    I sincerely hope you get the chance to take your family to Dublin. It is a truly lovely city. I will always have fond memories of attending a performance of "An Ideal Husband" at the Gate theatre. The other gate worth visiting is St James' gate.

    Ken,
    Growing up in LA, I was fairly certain that Santa Barbara is where Northern California started. Bad geography aside, I hope you get to Ireland, those kinds of "roots" visits are always worth it.
