Yes a very sweet type of coin ! Generally speaking, coins struck in the name of Germanicus are nice to collect, although, because of a thick patina, not easy to photography. Here are the two specimens in my trays at the moment : Germanicus, As Restitution by Caligula GERMANICVS CAESAR TI AVGVST F DIVI AVG N, Bare head of Germanicus left C CAESAR AVG GERMANICVS PON M TR POT around large SC 10,64 gr Ref : RCV #1821, Cohen #1 Germanicus, Dupondius minted in Rome, 37-41 AD GERMANICVS CAESAR, Germanicus in triumphal quadriga right SIGNIS RECEPT DEVICTIS GERM, Germanicus standing left, rising right arm, holding legionnary eagle 17.79 gr Ref : RCV #1820, Cohen #7 Q
I love you Germanicvs dupondius, Ro. A very historical coin, and yours has nice surfaces. Nice addition to your collection! I showed my Germanicvs dupondius a few days ago, but here is an As, struck in his name by his brother. GERMANICUS, father of Caligula, †AD 19. As, posthumous, struck by Claudius, about 42-43. OBV: GERMANICVS CAESAR TI AVG F DIVI AVG N, head right. REV: TI CLAVDIVS CAESAR AVG GERM P M TR P IMP PP, in the middle SC. RIC 106.
I'm with Steve... Great coins everyone!!! Here's another left-facing type of Germanicus: Struck by Caligula, AE As, circa 37-41 AD.
