I do have all official Roman Emperors and Caesars (35 in total, plus most of their relatives) from Julius Caesar to the Year 238, in bronze coins (most of them Sestertii).

Julius-G => you should definitely start your own thread ... you seem to have a lot of sweet coins (man, ya gotta love those nice big bronze babies, eh?)

If we are only counting Emperors, and not their wives or relatives, then I can count an unbroken chain from Caesar (44 b.C) to Pertinax (193 a.d).

If and when I am able to add Didius Julianus and Pescennius Niger the I could extend this to the reign of Severus Alexander (222 a.d).

I have the continuous run of emperors from Septimius Severus (193-211) through to Maximinus I (235–8).

So my collection represents an unbroken chain of 45 years of rule.

Will do, Mikey. One of my major unfinished projects is to photograph my entire collection! I do have a few nice photos that I will post, but they don't represent the full extent of this time period.

Beginning with Julius Caesar, I have continuous emperors through Commodus, 48BC-192AD or 140 years. Then I'm missing both Pertinax and Didius Julianus and pick up with Sep Sev through Maximinus I ending at Gordian I, another 40 years.

Hmmmm.... it is hard to define the complete span due to Usurpers, etc.

I now have 138 of the Roman Rulers (including Empresses, Usurper, Caesars, and Augusti), in which there are a TOTAL of 210, according to the RIC Rarity Chart and a few Provincials as discussed here on Coin Talk.

When I review my Roman Ruler Timeline pics, I have all the MAIN Augusti that are continuous from each Reign to the next. It creates a continuous Ruler handshake from the Beginning of the Imperial Period to Zeno I (whom is regarded as the last Ruler for the West)... Then it is to The Dark Ages for Western Europe... I have a very few Byzantines, enough to bridge me continuously into the 500's CE.

However, and obviously, not having them ALL; many of the Caesars or Usurpers are not in my clutches yet.

If you can see the pictured Timelines below, I possess the major Emperors and can trace from the beginning with Augustus (or Julius Caesar), through each of the major Augusti all the way to Zeno I... spanning the whole Empire. There are still several holes that I want to fill, however, my coins represent a continuous timeline with the Reigns of the Rulers that I have... (See the bold underline under each of the Augusti that represent their reign timeline)

I am still on a mission to acquire as many as I can, before price and availability become exponentially unattainable.

The Imperial Period is not my focus, but once I began to realize that many were attainable, the itch kept getting scratched. I still focus my efforts on the Roman Republic and those cities and states that interacted with them. That area is a more fulfilling Historical part of the Hobby for me! :D
