This also looks better in hand. If you have a Drusus, any Drusus, feel free to post. Drusus Julius Caesar Coin: Bronze As DRVSVS CAESAR TI AVG F DIVI AVG N - bare head left. PONTIF TRIBVN POTEST ITER - legend around S C Mint: Rome (AD 22-23) Wt./Size/Axis: 11.00g / 27mm / - References: RIC I Tiberius 45, p. 97
It is gorgeous. The portrait is much clearer. The "blemish" near the eye I think is dirt, but I am not going to clean it. I might get a more realistic portrait if I tilt it slightly.
I think it is an eye infection, you might want to take him to the Doctor... YOURS is a VERY nice Drusus! It was hard for me to find mine for a "reasonable" price... My Drusus... not nearly as gorgeous as yours! But, I have a slot filled! Roman Imperial Drusus Caesar Æ As 28mm Restoration issue under Titus And, my FRANKENSTEIN's MONSTERS issue... (kinda appropriate for Emperors and their families...) Roman Imperial / Provincial Tiberius, with Nero and Drusus Caesars. AD 14-37. Æ AS (28 mm, 11.69 g, 5h) Mint: Carthago Nova, Struck AD 23-29. Obv: Bare head of Tiberius left Rev: Confronted bare-headed and draped busts of Nero and Drusus. Ref: ACIP 3149; RPC I 179.
That is lovely, Pish. Looks like it just came out of an ancient Roman's purse to pay for some eggs or meat.
No Drusus here I would love a Drusus I've been looking around for a Drusus that would fit for years now Hope I'll not die Drususless ! Q
One of my favorite coins of Augustus featuring Drusus and Tiberius: Augustus Denarius, Lugdunum (Lyon) Ox: Bare head right; AVGVSTVS DIVI F around Rx: IMP X; Tiberius and Drusus presenting laurel branches to Augustus
I agree with @Pishpash ... That is an impressive Denarius! I am not familiar with it, and really enjoy it! Cool subject...
Very nice Drusus Pishpash! The black and brown is sweet and I wont tell if you clean the dirt off of the eye. Here's my Provincial Drusus. Uncertain city, Drusus AE18. Amphora countermark Obv. DPOVSOS KAISAP, Juvenile head of Drusus. Rev. MENOFANTOY KAPAKI..., Caduceus. 18mm and 4.2gm. "This coin, evidently of Asia Minor, but particularly of that part situated about the Maeander and Hermus, is probably of a place called Characa, mentioned by Strabo as situated on the road from Tralles to Nysa, and at equall distances. Stephanus speaks also of a city of Charax in Lydia, which he identifies with Tralles." J. Millingen, Sylloge of Ancient Unedited Coins of Greek Cities and Kings ... 1837, p. 79 (pl. 4, 56 (*). Howgego 369, amphora countermark.
Terrific Coins of Drusus!!! Absolutely love your As @Pishpash....... Superb patina and toning..... on that terrific bronze !!! And a truly wonderful reverse on that denarius @Brian Bucklan My example is a bit more 'common'---the son of Tiberius:
A beautiful coin, Pish. Just how I like them. My only coin that features Drusus is this Nero and Drusus, (on horseback) issued under Caligula. RIC I. Rome 34
I like your Drusus, Pishpash. It has the patina I like, tan and green, and it is nicely centered (unlike mine...). Congratulations! Here is mine: Drusus AE As, RIC 45 Drusus (+23 AD).
