Have you watched more than one of his videos or followed his threads? I'm guessing not or else you wouldn't have to ask what the problem is, or think he's just "sharing his finds".
Us chums are told by him that he is 38 - OK, 38, do you like to be lied to Eddie? If so keep watching his crap - and he relies on suckers like you to continue his crap on CT!
I dont know how much money he makes one cent is to much. We have a radio station here that posts videos & take the money they get & use it on give aways. They've given more concert passes this year than I remember in past years. I can only assume the more you peddle that booty the more money you get.
first, be logged into your google account (if you have gmail, same account info) then, click the little thumbs down button found right below the video!
Yeah, we sure do. We get debates like this one, with such strange allegations, out of it. You suggest applying "the rules". Fine, but which one is not applied or enforced here in you opinion? The part about self promotion refers to A - Offers to buy (...), B - Posting links to personal sales sites (...), C – Posting contact information (...), D – Spam. Now one may well find such videos annoying, but as far as I can tell, they do not violate any of these rules. If a linked or embedded video contains spam or sales offers, that would be a different story. But merely posting possibly boring videos does not violate our rules, unless these rules get changed at some point. By the way, the infraction system works for and applies to him too. Christian
You guys doing the complaining, do you know what it is that you don't get, don't understand ? You keep claiming his posts are advertising and you seem to think that any and all advertising is not allowed on CoinTalk. But that's where you're wrong. Advertising IS ALLOWED on CoinTalk - as long as the person doing that advertising is not trying to buy, sell, or trade something. As long as you're not doing that you can advertise here all you want - anybody can. Examples: say you have website that lists information about Lincoln cents or Bust Half dollars, you can post links to your website 100 times a day if you want and you will not be breaking any rules on CoinTalk. But it's still advertising. Say you write an article about Morgan dollars, and CoinWeek, or your coin club publishes that article for you. You then post links to that article here on the forum. That doesn't break the rules either. But it's still advertising. Somebody mentioned earlier in this thread that members would get warnings or points for having advertisement in their signature line. That simply isn't true. In fact the forum rules specifically allow you to include links to your ebay store for example. No you can't post a statement like - come buy from me, deals, deals, deals ! - in your sig line, but you can post a link to your sales website. And that's advertising, and it IS ALLOWED. There is only 1 kind of advertising that is not allowed on CoinTalk - and that is advertising where you are trying to buy, sell, or trade something. And don't try to tell me that's not what the rules mean because I wrote the rules !
advertising does not equal trying to sell something? gonna have to go back to business school I guess.
No, not necessarily. Doug provided two fine examples in the second and third paragraph of his post. Now whether we call that advertising, Individual PR, or Public Numismatic Service Announcement does not really matter in my opinion. The point is that we all understand what is OK here and what is not ... Christian
"Strange allegations"? This strikes me as an accusation, sir; perhaps you could clarify? A) fair enough, but even the blind should fully expect the subject to be broached one of these fine days. B) are the posted videos not essentially links* to his "personal (YouTube) site"? No less one used for his little whatever "business" purposes? Did you notice his post bragging about his watch count? Hint: that would be a clue to his true motivations. C) I seem to recall a certain someone's "business email" displayed prominently on the linked site, but I suppose this isn't "contact information", right? We know how even linked sites, that just happen to have "something" in violation of the rules displayed on them, warrant removal and even belittling depending on the subject matter... D) this isn't the very definition of spam? Oy! Doug says they don't break his rules, fine. That's his call and I can certainly respect that, but please, Christian, don't take us for fools. *edited for wording
What we have here is a battle of semantics and/or willful ignorance. But imho, his videos are posted for the sole purpose of increasing views and thus his revenue. Regardless of what you call that, it is not in the spirit of this site and I think it should be banned.
When Truble writes: "Interesting, maybe the Mods are getting something out of it.", I do find that strange, yes. Maybe you don't, maybe you also believe in, hmm, ulterior motives - up to you. Christian
Hence why I asked you to CLARIFY... so that I, and perhaps other readers, could understand. Simple concept, really. Yeah, that's it, Christian. Good job, Sherlock.
