    Sorry to hear about that.
Why not sent it to SGS, they will Proof 70 it for you.
And say that it was Adams' fingerprint.

You should have no problem exchanging, just the hassle involved. You would think some of the Mint workers would understand the impact of fingerprints. I assumed they wore gloves.

    mint mass production

the mint have so many products that they have to do it so fast that people just use their hand to insert coins without using hand gloves. the same happened to television network where the anchor man uses his hand to hold the rim without using hand gloves too. at one time the coin almost fall down. they just destroy a lot of coins. does anyone care?. i don't think so.

My sets from the mint were perfect.

I always thought mint employees were required to use gloves.

If they aren't, they should be!!

One of my mint sets came a bit damaged as well. On the George Washington obverse there are red speckles all over the coin. Makes me think it could be blood. Might keep it just for a cool story

Look at it this way, the Mint is pumping out coins so fast that the quality is questionable and fewer really superior coins are being minted. If they had more time, all we'd ever see is 69's and 70's and their value would revolve around that. The good thing is that collectors usually track down the good ones despite the millions or billions of bum coins the Mint produces.

The Mint is making a mint, they are literally printing money! Every coin someone takes off the market and puts in a jar is a coin sold by the Mint. So it makes sense for them to go wild on this. They proved the concept with the States Quarters Program and it's been getting crazier ever since.

I recommend enjoying the ride. :)

It's the blood the Mint is squeezing from turnups. :smile

5 sets: 2 with fingerprints, 1 with scratch on Adams forehead, 1 with some kind of black line on rim of Washington, and 1 had a Jefferson that looked like someone had taken a hammer to the background. Took them all apart, picked 2 perfect sets, will return the other 3 for refund. The Mint ought to be happy I'm not sending them all back. It would be my luck if I received these back when I get my regular proof sets.:(

5 sets and no problems. Maybe I'll get mine when the clad proof sets come. So far so good.

    with those problems

i will not order any 2007 silver proof set, clad proof set and prez set. instead i might try to order some mint unc set. the problem might again be the edge lettering on the rim.

Does the number in the lower right corner of the prez proof set mean anything?

heh heh.. what you guys have got there is EVIDENCE. Eventually the ability for regular folk to run a print through the FBI computers will exist.. and we'll get the name of the SLACKER for all to see.

    (edit)

I received 1 of my 5 sets today. They were ordered separate. The other 4 still have not shipped. They look sorta ok.. I guess the little scratches were put on there to simulate the look of the cirrculated ones :/
