Hello everyone, Today I did my first Metal Detecting hunt since coming back from Puerto Rico. I went to Prospect Park, Brooklyn NYC. 6 hours.. 1 Silver War Nickel 2 Winged Liberty Head Dimes 6 Wheat Cents Token - 10th President - Information Needed! WW2 Hat Pin - E PLURIBUS UNUM US MAIL Vintage Lock Neat Silver Bracelet Everything Picture at the park
I found information on the John Tyler Commemorative Token https://americanhistory.si.edu/collections/nmah_1382273 This token was made by the Scovill Manufacturing Company of Waterbury, Connecticut during the early 20th century. Scovill was established in 1802 as a button manufacturer and is still in business today. Scovill was an early industrial American innovator, adapting armory manufacturing processes to mass-produce various consumer goods including buttons, daguerreotype mats, and political tokens.
Nice little loot! Love the "trinkets", especially the token! I have a button that I found that was made by The Waterbury Button Company. It originally was a company called The Benedict & Burham Co. Here is some interesting reading on the company and the Button ( circa 1834-1843). The Benedict & Burnham Manufacturing Company - The Lampworks
Nice finds Ed. I have a WW II .45 Auto Holster Hanger with Scovill snaps. I need to replace 2 of them. They are still being made. I just need to find the exact ones.
That is quite the haul for various items. Coins, including 3 silvers, a bracelet, a USPS lock, a John Tyler token, a WWII hat pin and more. Glad you had a nice trip and a great day at the park.
