$20 Purchase - 1853 Trime

    My pictures don't do it justice, but I am very happy with this $20 purchase!

    That's not bad for $20. I hate to tell you, but I paid $3 for my first one. That was in the early 1960s. Today that $3 is more like $30 in today's money.

    The woman from whom I purchased it claimed she found it while she was plowing a field. This was in southern rural Delaware. Despite the source, the coin was in Fine condition. Today it would be called a VF.

    They are neat little coins. Everything is bold on this one, they are often weak in some areas. I found an 1853 metal detecting, can't call it free though when it took a $1500 machine to find it!

    Oh, you can't account for costs that way, though, or else I'd have to count the thousands of dollars I've spent on computers against the bargains I've gotten on eBay. :rolleyes:
