    I’m putting in a vote for a coin that was underground for a while. It has more of that look to me than the few black beauties I’ve seen.

    Excellent photos. Looks like it was underground (env. damage) and not improperly annealed.

    Thanks for the replies. I recently purchased this one on eBay that was listed as a black beauty, which I believe it is. Do you concur?

    No, it's corroded than therefore has environmental damage.

    Nickel collectors need to get this "black beauty" phrase out of their brains. When coins that contain nickel go bad, they turn black. There is nothing "beautiful" about them.
