Despite its popularity and availability, I can't help but get excited when I come across a nice Tribute Penny. Here is my newest:

Jesus, referring to a denarius (translated as a "penny" in later English translations of the text, see below) asked, "Whose is this image and superscription?" When answered that the likeness was Caesar, he replied; ''Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's and unto God the things that are God's" (Matthew 22:20-21).

Well.... I am betting you are looking for period pieces, but I'll offer this anyway... Being a lifelong dedicated US collector I stumbled upon an ancient dealers table at a show a few years back and was quite taken with this Byzantine piece that had a striking portrait of Christ.

    Pontius Pilate Prutah

    Half Prutah (Widow's Mite)

Mark 12:41-44: Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins.

Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.”

Only other biblical coin on my list to get is the Tyrian Shekel (Piece of Silver). But I haven't yet been able to get myself to pay the price! :greedy:

Not a period piece, but very relevant. Christ rising from the tomb.

    Beautiful denarius, bootsitalia.

Although none of these coins are specifically mentioned in the Bible, they were minted and circulated during Biblical times.
