So, I finally got time to get some photos of the 84O Morgan I bought a while back. I haven't tried VAM'ing it yet, but I think that I got some pretty decent photos, and thought I would share. By the way I did check it against any of the top Morgan VAM's by date, and it isn't any of them. Here is the coin. It is MS62 Cameo DMPL Date position and N clash MM placement Looks like there is a die chip forming on the star. Die clash at lips and reverse clash of forehead nose and lips. and a larger view of the reverse clash marks including the back of the bonnet wreath clash. And the Cotton Blossoms. Here is VAMWorld if you want to give it a go. 1884-O VAMs - VAMWorld
I read this thread after my travels back today from Puerto Rico.. I am tired! Ok.. so you meant 84-O, got it
I was thinking what myself but I didn’t have a flight. It’s came to me after I saw your post. Hope you had a good trip. spelling corrected
I kinda figured. Looked like you had some good beach hunts while you were there. Looked like a good time.
Flight 840? I already knew what you meant from your other thread. These pictures are much better. I'll look, I need the practice. I think I got 2 of 16 right that John at VSS labeled for me. (Messydesk)
Probably not 5A, sorry I blew up It's interesting! 5A was as close as I good get. Might want to post it on VAMWorld and let the group give it a go. Hell, could be a new VAM.
Can you take a very enlarged photo of the date? The clashed letter transfers pickups N and neck don't lead to many conclusions with the other amazing clashes that thing has going on. When it gets into "near date and far date", I'm tapping out, clueless there.
Then I'm going back to my original guess on your other thread. 23-A. Take a good photo under the I just above the wheat stalks on the obverse near the top. There should be doubling/clashes there too if it's in the same die stage deterioration. What confuses me your oval O seems tilted right. On another thread, John explained to me that there are key pickup points that are not discussed on Vam World. There are some crazy variations of some subtle VAMS that just aren't talked about, You coin has some major clashes that are not listed or photographed. At some point, some of these end up being discovery VAMs.
