Help to Identify

    I have no idea what this is, hoping someone here might know. It is in a holder and was only taken out long enough to take pictures, with freshly scrubbed hands and careful to only touch the sides.
    Please keep in mind that I have zero experience with this type coin so please explain to me like you are talking to a child ;)

    Not normally considered as ancient, more Medieval
