Over time I am gradually building a date set of cents from 1793 to 2024. I'll probably never finish it, but it's fun to add a piece now and then. I found two pieces at the Summer FUN show. Here is the nicer one.

This 1833 large cent is PCGS graded AU-58. It is the Newcomb 5 variety, which features the "horned 8." This would be really exciting variety if it weren't so common. I've done my best to show the "8" with the horns in a cropped, close-up photo.

Including 1794 Liberty Cap (saw two at FUN) and 1799?

I have had a really nice 1794 cent for quite a while. The 1799 is probably something I will never acquire. This one was in Dan Holmes' collection. This piece is so elegant, it's hard to believe that it is just an humble cent.

    Nice.
This has been my interest area for the past 2/3 years.

I joined EAC but have been to only one of their conventions.
But I've got my eye on the 2025 convention in Pittsburgh, PA.

I'm working on a variety set of US half cents and large cents -- at least the ones I can afford.
I don't have either of the of the two you posted.

That's a lovely 1794 but I meant to say the 1793 Liberty Cap

I owned half of 1793 Liberty Cap with another collector about 50 years ago. We paid $20 for it and sold it for $30. You can image how bad it was. It was a Sheldon 14 with the big die crack down the middle. That and the fact that it had a beaded border were the only ways to tell that it was a 1793 Liberty Cap.
