I thought we just have a little fun coming up to the end of the year. Unfortunately a lot of members will not be able to participate. Because these coins are not worth their time or effort. But there's still plenty of members out there that one of these oddities caught their eye and they decided to keep it. Well let's see what interesting oddities have been found over the year.USMC60 cl-1.jpg cl-2.jpg 001-1.jpg

Quarter - looks like what I would find metal detecting near old pier pilings at the beach. It gets tossed back and forth in the sand and rocks. Saltwater Environmental Damage.

    Dime - Huge gauge!

Was told the 95 was painted silver and its wearing off. The dollar is cool , I think some type of chem or in the ground/water. Crazy how the one eye is still pristine gold colored though, really stands out...:D

Really never like trying to identify certain things on coins with photos. Never was that good at it. Have you looked at her eye under real close magnification? There could be some kind of foreign material protecting that area of her eye. I have also seen hard water do this to coins. Some pics to come.:woot::blackalien:

I found this one in some change, I was thinking about giving it a proper burial.

I would not say a parking lot find or a sidewalk. Reverse shows very little damage, which indicates this cent was laying on the reverse. Haven't got a clue what could have cause the overs damage. As far as the cent I like it and I'd keep it. Just for the oddity. To occasionally look at it and wondered what caused the overs damage. Or maybe you'll get lucky and find one that's identical in the environment that caused the damage. I'm always picking up loose change that I Find on the ground. 2up-2.jpg :blackalien:

Yeah I plan to hang onto it for a while. It also seems strange to me that the reverse seems almost untouched while the obverse has been destroyed. If you can see past the heavy damage it looks like there was possibly some planchet flaws or it was just really gassy.

    Here's one that didn't quite make it.:blackalien:PS. Notice the off-center strike and I believe it's a 2000. ct10-17-9.jpg ct10-17-9.jpg

I appears that your 2000 LMC is of the WAM Varity. I don't think that anyone noticed but the 1988 that is previously posted is also of the WAM Varity, AKA (1988 RDV-006), its a shame that it has been destroyed.

Yes, it sure is that's why I included the center image.
