My lord.... this girl is really something else. The next time someone comes here, complaining that they don't find anything, or that it's too hard, or too tedious, or infected with a bad case of pareidolia, she should be used an example of what can be achieved by taking it seriously. She took her lumps, stuck with it, and has had what I think is exceptional success. It seems like every few weeks we see another rather significant find, and it couldn't happen to a nicer and more deserving person. I'm almost getting tired of writing it so often, but congrats to you, Sheila.... again.
I am not sure what the grade of it may be though. My husband said when we get a little extra money, then we can send it in to be slabbed.
First off, Congratulations on your find! And secondly, you didn't have to put "Must Read" in your title, everyone automatically reads your post, as you have quickly became the poster child of the hunting forum.
Ok, first off, I would like to say congradulations, idk how long you've been doing this for, but, that has to feel good. Also, I hope this isn't a buzz kill on that, but, I swear I think I have the same coin. I was just looking at it last night, and decided I was getting too tired because I thought that it was doubled. I woke up this morning and got on here and looking at your coin, it's almost identical. As soon as I can take some better pics of it, I would like to send you the pics to see what you think about it if that's ok? Thank you, and again, congradulations.
Just wondering, on yours, the Second T in TRUST, does it look like there is a kinda crooked line going down off the bottom of it? It's almost spooky how identical these coins look.
Yes. The original coin that looks IDENTICAL to mine has a die gouge I believe near the nose or mouth. Someone please correct me on that if I'm wrong. Mine does NOT have the die gouge marking. Check to see if yours does. That one is listed on Wexler's list of doubled dies.
Nice find...I think your 83 DDO cent looks very much like the CONECA listed 83 DDO-001, FS-101 (035), when I compare the photos you posted with Variety Vista. See if yours has any of the markers listed there for the DDO-001. http://www.varietyvista.com/01b LC Doubled Dies Vol 2/1983PDDO001.htm Larry Nienaber
