    An 8 escudos, 1447, Lima mint. Assayer V (Jose de Vargas y Flor).

    1745 George II "Lima" sixpence.

    The "Lima" part is attributed to England bragging about the silver they took by force from the Spanish Empire. This piece was made from it. They are supposed to be common as coin from this era go.

    In those days, one nation could take from another and brag about it to their citizens. It's still done, but not as much in the open.

    Here is the GB shilling for 1745 - this one without the "bragging" LIMA below the bust and instead with roses in the angles on the reverse. This is scarcer than the LIMA equivalent.
