Hello everyone, I hope everyone had a great 4th of July. I went to the park where last week I metal detected my new record of 12 silver coins. After a 4 hour hunt I was only able to detect 1 Silver and a few other neat items.. 1 Silver Roosevelt 1 Indian Head Cent 1 Old Button Lead Knuckles Menorah Candle holder - Busted Corroded Wheat Cents Everything The Button is from an old Police Uniform On a sad note.. some idiot totally ruined a Independence Day park outing when he drove his pick up truck into a few people. 3 were killed. Corleers Hook Park is where I have detected many silver coins over the past several years. https://www.cbsnews.com/newyork/news/multiple-pedestrians-struck-lower-east-side/
Hi Paddy, I can't get over how damaged your silver finds have been lately & very reminiscent of silver coins I found in Galveston's salt water. Perhaps the soil in your recent hunt locations have a very high saline content or perhaps other chemicals?) Anyway, go out and find some gold....I'm sure the condition will be much approved....Ha! Happy hunting, J.T.
Paddyman98, A nice haul in spite of finding only one silver coin. I don't mean to hijack your thread but the article link triggered me. I am so saddened to read about those folks being killed by a drunk driver. And it's maddening to know that if the driver has a good lawyer he'll see little time behind bars. Anyone want to make a bet that the first thing his lawyer says, after "he's really a good guy," is that there was a problem with the truck. In many countries, driving drunk leads to an immediate trip to jail for a year. No excuses, do not pass go, tough luck. I had a friend working construction on the LI Expressway who was crippled for life by a drunk driver who drove onto the expressway while it was closed for construction. The driver served no time in jail because of a technicality, his blood alcohol level wasn't tested within a mandated time after the accident. His blood alcohol level was still beyond legal limits when tested in the hospital hours later. The driver also happened to be a highly placed police officer. There is a special place in hell for drunk drivers who kill innocent victims. Sorry for the rant but this is a topic that is near and dear to me.
Cool finds! What year is the IHC? Love the button also. Made in my neck of the woods. What year is it from?
So sorry to hear about the deaths of people out enjoying the 248th anniversary of our nation. Those brass knuckles may come in handy one day. Lol
Not to Hijack the thread, well a little . I was Metal detecting with a friend who just dug a nice Largie, and I was Jealous until I dug this thinking it was also a Large Cent. It registered 85 on my old White's XLT.
