    Surely this is PMD...right? Has anyone else come across something like this? 20161013_201014.jpg 20161013_201208.jpg 20161013_201742.jpg 20161013_202158.jpg 20161013_202229.jpg 20161013_202336.jpg 20161013_202418.jpg 20161013_203120.jpg

Looks like he took a few good punches to the face. Yep, PMD. But the reverse looks like a lamination peel.

Yes, like Tommy said, it's post mint damage on his nose and chin.

As I was examining your first picture, I notice something happening on his shoulder and up the back of his head (on his hair) to the rim. Your 5th picture down on the rev. confirmed my suspicion. Like Tommy said, you have lamination on the rev. but you also have lamination the obv.

Also, it's probably part of the lamination but I notice something that looks almost/something like a cud. One above the first U and to the rim in PLURIBUS and one on the last S and to the rim in STATES. It's probably peeling from the lamination. Nice find though!

I am not sure, but the Nose looks like a Cud, The Damage only scrapes the point. the chin looks like all PMD. Wood grain almost all way's says Lamination.

    No to Cud
I think you meant a Die Chip or Break on the field other than the edge.
Remember that a Cud occurs on the edge.

The obverse is caused from a coin rolling machine ...

I agree with Rick, you can trace the marks up to the chin and nose. Coin rolling machines do make these marks.
