At what point do you decide when to move a coin from tube to 2x2 acrylic holder or cardboard flip. I currently have over 800 wheat pennies in 2x2 cardboard flips and I am wondering if tube storage might be better.

Same question applies to any of your coins that are MS or AU grades. What storage method do you use for them? I currently have mine in 2x2 cardboard flips. I am using a philosophy that if the coin hits value of $5 or higher I move it to a 2x2 acrylic. MY Morgan's, Peace and Silver Eagles are in slabs.

    Thanks.

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

It all depends on what you want to do with them. If you want to be able to see them, arrange them in an album page in a logical manner, or look at them individually, 2x2s are probably best.

If you are hoarding them, have a large number of the same date, and don't really want to look at them, then a tube might be best.

There is no right or wrong here, its all up to you and what you want. Only you can decide that.

I personally don't like tubes, because I generally only have one of each date/MM. I put them in an album and I'm working on building a set, not a hoard. For me, a tube would be useless. I also don't like tubes for MS coins (they are fine for AU) because of the high point friction which may occur.
